Highlights and notes

Save important passages and find them later.

Highlights let you mark passages while you read and find them later from anywhere in the app. Use them for literature reviews, study sessions, or just to remember the one quote you'll definitely want to cite.

Making a highlight

In the Reader, select any text in the paper and click on the yellow dot to highlight.

Each highlight is associated with your account and the paper you're reading. There's no save button: once you click on the yellow dot, it's saved.

Adding a note

After making a highlight, click it again to open the note panel on the right. Notes are free-form text. Use them for your own commentary or to tag the highlight for later (#methodology, #followup).

Notes are searchable from the highlights page.

Browsing your highlights

Open Highlights from the navbar to see every highlight you've ever made, grouped by paper. From here you can:

  • Click a highlight to jump back into the paper at that exact spot
  • Filter by paper or note text

Organizing with folders

For longer projects, group papers into folders. From the highlights page, create a folder, then drag papers in. Folders keep a literature review tidy without scattering highlights across unrelated papers.
